Here is a whole list of improvements to IDP Companion that a C++ programmer could rewrite for Basic only.  
I considered offering a prize at the local community college, but considering that the corporation 
I used to work for would not hire their graduates, figured it would be a waste of money.  
The fixes identified one day include:

    Delete all languages, is only English to Basic.
    Allow future for other languages to Basic.
    Smaller display size (hides too much desktop)
    Delete non-Roman letter feature.
    Allow paste of words from word processor.
	Also add CNTL P for paste
    Add Home (or other) key to clear text, make ready for new word.
    Prevent cursor from text area, not work there
    Keep copy from IDP to word processor text.
    Keep color when sought-word box is ready (empty).
    Keep Cntl C for copy.
    Keep options of "exactly" and "containing."
    If no word in dictionary (or misspelled):
	Display empty definition with bgcolor and beep.
	Display word(s) before and after (leaving word sought in colored background)
	Option to turn sound on and off.
    Add ability to scroll up and down database from place of a word or attempted word.
    Assure space between word and definition.  Insert if none there.

Common misspelling:
	Code in dictionary for background color and beep (sound).
	Code program to accept and respond with bgcolor.
	Display preferred word/definitions 
	(or an embed message in dictionary)
	This might be used for Commonwealth vs. American spelling, too.
