readmespell version 0.2b December 23, 2007
Files:
readspell.html this note
spellist1.xls about 158KB
Purpose:
This file is in a relatively convenient form for developers.
It contains the 850 Basic English words, the international,
and the compound words in all of their allowed derivative
forms of -ed, -er, -ing, -s, -ly, and un-. And -est which
is used with single syllable words.
The -1.0 version was done by eye.
The 0.s version includes some feedback and updates from working
with the full OOo dictionary wordlist and testing on Ogden's works
totally in Basic.
This 0.2 version is updated from several years of experience as part of
the release of IDP 0.6. Ver0.2.b has a bunch more compound words added.
There is a note at http://ogden.basic-english.org/wordacom.html about this update.
The dictionary file for use with OpenOffice.org wordprocessing suite, see
http://www.basic-english.org/down/readooo.html That is a large file that
combines these Basic words with proper nouns for a complete spell checker.
See toddlist.zip for a single word per line listing.
It is a regular .txt file that just requires a name change.
